-about liv-
Liv Lanter is a proud St. Louis native and began dancing at the age of two. She grew her repertoire at St. Louis Academy of Dance where she trained in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, lyrical, contemporary, and musical theater. In May 2024, she graduated from Elon University with her BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography along with her BA in psychology and minor in neuroscience. She performed in numerous dance concerts within the program working with remarkable guest choreographers. Additionally, she crafted multiple major works of choreography herself that were chosen to be presented at main stage dance concerts.
Liv’s passion for dance has taken her abroad to study in Florence, Italy from artist Angelo Egarese at the Florence Dance Center. She is proud to have performed in the Florence Dance Festival while in Italy and thankful to be immersed in an experience that shaped who she is as an artist. Additionally, she spent a summer in Los Angeles, California elevating her commercial dance skills and training with industry professionals.
Her relationship with dance not only exists on the stage, but also in the neuroscience lab. Liv completed dance research focused on the neuropsychological affects of studio practices on dancers’ performance in the studio. This research was presented at the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science Conference. Her dedication to the craft spans across disciplines as her two true passions of dance and neuroscience often combine to create groundbreaking work.
Artist Statement
I prioritize authentic creation. The ability for dance to freely form into a personal and unique experience is where innovation begins. I explore out of my own comfort zone because it is when we reach outside into the unknown that we create something captivating and grow as artists.
